Theory of NonEquilibrium Statistical Mechanics and applications to Network, Epidemiological and Biological Models

Motivated by the classification of nonequilibrium steady states suggested by R.K.P. Zia and B. Schmittmann in J. Stat. Mech. P07012 (2007), we propose to measure the violation of the ’detailed balance’ criterion by the pnorm K_p ) of the matrix formed by the probability currents. We show that the latter quantity and the average activity A are both related to the probability distribution of the entropy production. Exact results are derived for the openASEP and openZRP. I will discuss three applications of the Master Equation approach to (1) Network dynamics of interacting populations, (2) stochastic model for gene expression and (3) Epidemiology modeling.
