Owner Kelsey Currier is a Half Moon Bay native who has spent her life traveling the globe and experiencing events from different cultures. Tell us about your company name.
Coastside is a word that tends to be used to specifically describe Half Moon Bay by those who are familiar with the area. I was raised on the Half Moon Bay coastside and love sharing my local knowledge and vendor contacts with my couples. It is a unique and beautiful gem of the SF Bay Area, along with the other California coastal towns that I service.
Why should someone hire you?
If they want a relaxed and enjoyable planning experience then I will be a great fit. I have many years of event experience and consider myself a logistical mastermind of sorts. I will always listen, provide advice, and encourage my couples to make sure their wedding is uniquely representative of their style and desires.
What drew you to this field/how did you get started?
I started out planning community service events and alternative spring break trips during grad school at Cal Poly. I realized I had a love for planning, and eventually ended up in the events department at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay. I had a wonderful mentor who planned the weddings there and she took me under her wing. From then on I caught the wedding bug!
I loved seeing all the beautiful details come together for our couples!
Tell us about a favorite, unusual or very interesting moment at a wedding:
I once had to perform the Heimlich maneuver on a guest during dinner. Many watched unable to act, but I have been CPR and first aid trained and jumped into action to help out!
What makes a wedding memorable for you?
All the little details that represent the couple's unique style.
What have weddings taught you?
That there will always be challenges and it is how you respond to them that makes all the difference!
What is the best advice you give a couple when planning their wedding?
To enjoy the planning process and focus on the fact that at the end of the day, they get to marry their person and that's really what matters most!
If you could have any superpower on the job, what would it be?
To be able to be in two places at once! I need a clone!

Calm, thoughtful, flexible.
What's your favorite book/movie/work of art?
Gone with the Wind.
What's your favorite marriage advice?
Never stop dating each other.
Extracurricular activities:
Yoga, paddle boarding, hiking, travel.
If you weren't in your current profession, what would you do instead?
Travel agent, I love building itineraries for my travels.
What’s your favorite way to wind down after a hard day?
A walk on the beach or a candlelit yoga class.
Tell us about your pets, if you have any.
I share a home with a (sometimes) sweet and cuddly all-white cat named Bodhi.
What are some of your favorite places to eat—either everyday spots or special occasion splurges?
Sam's Chowder House (fun fact I was the event's director there for 4 years). Thai, sushi, and Italian are all high on my list of favorite cuisines. I lived in Thailand for 1.5 years and love the food and culture.
